Tomato Wars

The photograph is of La Tomatina festival which is held annually in Buñol in Valencia Province, Spain. Basically it’s an all out tomato war which is now a big tourist attraction and an event that originates from locals staging a mock fight using vegetables way back in 1944.
The event is a real messy do and participants are advised to wear goggles and gloves for safety reasons. In 2002 the local City Council declared it a Fiesta of International Tourist Interest. The council kindly provides all the tomatoes too.
